Love Love Love

I love my wife, my kiddo, our dog, and most of all...MY LIFE! I couldn't ask for anything more than what I already have. I get to spend time with those that love me, while doing the things that I love!!!

Tiny Task Tuesday

Welcome to this week's edition of Tiny Task Tuesday. We are working to make the world a brighter place one TINY. TASK. AT. A. TIME. Follow this button over to my friend Twinkle's page to see what it is all about. Join us and start spreading the cheer and good will. Or, share the cheer and good will that was shown to you this past week!!!!

I loaned Lorelli's cradle and her high chair to a foster family at my babysitter's church because they just were given a 1 month old and a 1 year old and they do not have a place for the baby to sleep or the older child to eat.

I was super sweet to a very rude upset customer on the phone that inadvertently got transferred to me. I answered her every question and concern and she ended the conversation saying thank you and telling me to have a blessed day.

I drove a coworker all over God's creation to take care of some errands because she does not drive.

Prayers Please

Do not fret, the prayers are not needed for me. One of the ladies whose blogs I enjoy reading and that I follow very closely needs everyone's prayers for her and her family. They are going through a tough time right now with their infant son. In the womb he was discovered to have a heart problem, but then with tons and tons of prayers he was MIRACULOUSLY "healed and was born a well and whole full-term baby...with dimples!" (direct quote from her blog) PLEASE click the button on the right hand side of my blog that says PRAYING FOR STELLAN and read what they are going through and then I ask you to please offer their family up in prayer. Thank you.

Weekend with [HIS] family

Wow. What a weekend we have had. His eldest sister was up with her family from Florida for the weekend because she and her husband were getting their ministry license. I met her once before about 2 years ago, but I have never gotten to spend time with her. I have spoken to her on the phone and over MySpace, but I was still a little nervous.

Saturday we woke up hellaciously early for no reason. Since we were up already, we cleaned the upstairs and finally put away the 7532158965 loads of laundry that have been accumulating for a couple weeks in the tv room. I changed the sheets on all the beds. I cleaned the guest bathroom. Cleaned Lorelli's pigsty of a room. Rob cleaned the kitchen and the downstairs for me. And we did all of this by 9:30 in the morning. We were so productive and I was so proud of us.

We headed over to his mom's house to join the caravan of ppl that were going to the church for the licensing ceremony. When we got to the church his sister came over and said, "where's my sister-in-law, let me say hi to her."

And that began the weekend of the subtle, implied, and bluntly put statements on how he and I should get married. Not only should we get married, but we should have a baby, too. Oh Boy....did they not get the memo?

Whenever Tasha introduced us to anyone she introduced her brother and "his girlfriend slash (yes she said the word slash) fiancè."

Right after the licensing ceremony one of her first comments was, "I can marry you guys tomorrow for free now that I'm a licensed minister."

Back at the house for the "reception" afterwards there were a lot more conversations about grandchildren and nieces and nephews and future children, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

Needless to say it was a very...not stressful....I don't know the exact word to describe what this weekend was. Here a few of my ideas : Angst-ridden. Repetitive. Distraught. Loud. Draining. Fun. Emotional.

I ♥ Faces

If you were reading last week, you know that I have decided to join a weekly photography contest. I am quite excited about it. I looove taking pictures of Lorelli as I am sure you guys know. And even though I know they are not STAR QUALITY, I don't think that I do HALF BAD. I think she photographs very well and makes my job easy. :-)

Go check out the other entries by visiting the I Faces website. The theme this week was NO FLASH. You had to submit pictures that used no flash of any sort, neither from the camera nor any other kind of flash. Below are my two entries. I entered a photo in both categories this week. Check them out and let me know what you think.

This is Lorelli at the zoo during the summer/fall of last year when I wasn't working.

This is my new haircut from a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago - but its one of my favorite pictures so this is the one I am using.

Why do some ppl feel it their duty to whine and complain about EVERY LITTLE THING? I work with lady who sometimes just gets under my sin. She is a little older, 50, but not old by any means. Most days I enjoy her company and her stories. But days like today I want to tell her to please shut her mouth and adhere to the old adage, "If you can't say something nice..." She flew totally off the handle this morning about a comment that I made to the owner of our small company. UGH! I just don't get it. Sorry for the venting episode, just had to get it out before I went back from lunch. :)

Recipe Changing the title suggests, I tried to cut a recipe in half the other day. I decided I wanted some fresh baked bread that evening. But, I did not want to deal with having to knead and let it rise and punch it down, etc. I am still not feeling well and I did not want to do all that work. SO...I put it in the bread machine. Not only did I change the recipe from an oven baking bread to a bread machine bread, but I also cut it in half. I don't know if you ever had to cut a recipe in half or not...but its not near as easy as just doubling a recipe. You can't just cut all the ingredients in half. There is some give and take that you have to do to get the tastes correct. turned out...okay. I cut the salt too far back and you can definitely taste it. Other than that, it was delicious whole wheat bread and it definitely hit the spot.

I also made a dinner the other night that turned out to be SOOOO awesome. I don't know if you remember, or if I have even mentioned it, but I deemed March the month of all new meals. I have vowed not to make any of my standby, or GOTO meals as I call them. I am using my cookbooks and my beloved food blogs to find new and interesting foods to make. For the most part, this has brough us good luck. The shrimp fried rice I made for Rob and Lorelli did not turn out so well, but that I can not help because I refused to taste it as I was cooking it because I do not eat seafood. Tuesday night I decided to make my G.G.'s (great grandmother's) porcupine balls. I was pretty sure I knew how to do it, but I hunted down a recipe nonetheless. The end result was NOTHING like my GG's porcupine balls, but delicious, in spite of the changes I made. I changed the meat from groung beef to ground chicken. I doubled the recipe. I used garlic cloves in place of garlic salt. Try it for yourself. It was delicious. I am not good at measuring spices though, those are such particular things to the individual's tatebuds.

Porcupine Balls

1 lb ground meat of your choice
1/2 c UNcooked rice
1-3 garlic cloves, minced OR 1 t garlic salt
1 slice of onion, minced
pinch celery salt
pinch salt
several turns of freshly groung black pepper
1/4 c - 1/2 c milk
Worcestershire sauce
1 8oz can of tomato sauce OR 1 can of diced tomatoes
1/2 c water
1 T shortening or oil

In medium sized bowl mix rice, meat, garlic, onion, celery salt, salt, pepper, and 1/4c milk until well incorporated. If mixture is not quite wet enough, add a little more milk. Mixture should be slightly wetter than meatloaf consistency.

Form small to medium sized balls of mixture. Set aside on piece of foil or wax paper.

Heat pan to med-high with 1 T shortening or oil.

Cook meatballs in shortening, turning occasionally, until just brown on the outside, not crispy.

Add water, tomatoes or tomato sauce, and Worectershire sauce to pan, just to cover the meatballs.

Reduce heat to low, simmer for 30-45 minutes, or unti rice is tender and meatballs are cooked throughly.

Serve with mashed potatoes and sturdy vegetables. ENJOY!!!!

Tiny Task Tuesday

Join us in this movement to make the country a better tiny task at a time. This was all started by my friend, Twinkle. She wants us to take a moment each week to do something for someone else. It does not have to be anything grandiose. It could be a smile. It could be a gift. Anything counts. Then come here with us on Tuesdays and share with us what you did. Or....share what someone else did for you. :-)

This week I was sick. I think I had the plague. Seriously. Lorelli was the star this week. I am trying to teach her the idea of Pay it Forward (which was an AWESOME MOVIE!!!!). Do nice things for people, just because.

I know that Lorelli and I pushed in some extra grocery carts on our way in last week to the grocery store.

Lorelli held the door open for a lady coming out of Golden Corral with way more kids than she had arms.

Lorelli bought a shamrock for March of Dimes at Kroger. (With my dollar, but her idea...even though I had to tell her what it was for)

She said HELLO to everyone that she passed on Wednesday. Several people just kept walking, but most said Hello back with a smile. We just don't do that anymore as a society. We are so nervous that every person is someone bad that could be a potential danger that we have forgotten how to be social.

I had a friend over for dinner who then invited a friend who I didn't particularly want to entertain, but I did anyway.

I <3 Faces Post

This is cool. You know how much I love to share photos of my beautiful baby with you. Well, here is a little photo contest. The I ♥ Faces web page is a photography blog that does a photo contest. Go check it out and leave comments on others' pages.

Excerpt from their web page :

I ♥ Faces is a photography site focused on the art of capturing faces and their various emotions. Each week, people from across the world have the opportunity to enter their favorite face photos into two categories ~ kids and adults. A judge will pick a winning photo from each category that will then be displayed on our home page.

Here is my post - the theme is GREEN so somewhere in the picture there had to be GREEN. The green in this pic is the underside of her hood on her jacket. I hope this qualifies. We will see. If not, it is still one of my favorite pics of her E.V.E.R. :-)

NOT ME! Monday

Join me for Not Me! Monday and let me know all the things that you absolutely did not do this weekend. It is very fun and therapeutic to air it out. If you want to truly join then grab this picture, post it, and link back to MckMama's page to find out what everyone else did not do this past week.

I did not post a blog on Friday stating that I was sick just to get sympathy. I did not feel like a sick 5 year old whining for her mommy. Not at 28 years old. We are grown women and no longer whine when we are sick, right??? *crickets chirping*

I did not make "nachos" out of JUST chips and cheese for dinner for my lovely 3 year old and I. That is definitely not a proper dinner. And I definitely did not rationalize it out to my self by saying that she got corn from the chips, milk from the cheese, and fruit from the juice I let her drink. Wondermom would never do that. She would insure a proper dinner is fed to her child before sending her to bed.

I did not take my daughter out in the rain to look at houses with Rob and I and let her get dirty and wet up to her knees. Including her socks and shoes. I absolutely did not let her trek around in the grass and muck to check out the houses with us.

I am not the retarded girl that you saw yesterday checking out houses in the rain and muck in CANVAS SHOES!!! I am smarter than that. Really, I am.

I most certainly did not sleep from 11:30 am Friday until 10:30 am Saturday morning because I was so sick. I also did not take the cold and cough medicine religiously every four hours so that I could stay asleep that long so as not to feel like a giant bag of @$$ every waking moment.

I would never gawk inappropriately at a fellow coworker. Especially not because he is just the cutest little tiny asian boy you have ever seen and wears more makeup than I do. And muscle shirts. And a beret. And dangly George Michael earrings. And has a Michael Jackson voice. That is very inappropriate. I am the HR coordinator. I would not do things like that. LOL Ever. LOL Really.

I did not get my feelings hurt when my friend decided not to come over Friday night to sit with my sick self. I mean, its not every day that someone drives well over 1K miles to come see someone. Just. Because. Although it may not be every day, it apparently is once a month. But whatever. I am a grown woman and would not pout!

I did not forget a baked potato (or three) on the grill Monday night when we made dinner. I absolutely did not barely remember them late Tuesday afternoon. And I certainly did not leave said baked potato(es) on the grill until Wednesday evening when I got home. I am much more aware of the food I am preparing to do something like that.

I did not get Lorelli's hopes up by telling her we were going to make cookies only to get home and find out that my milk was definitely not spoiled and we were most certainly NOT out of eggs and also NOT running low on butter.

There you go. As you can see, I did not ket anything go by the wayside this week. Share with me what you DIDN'T do this week. Laugh it off. Laughter is good for the soul. :-)

UGH!! I am so sick today. I actually went home early from work. At 9:30 a.m. And to make it worse my auntie came in town today. Who wants to be sick and on their monthly at the same time? Gggrrrrrr. Oh well. I have fever. And my head hurts. And my throat hurts. And my skin hurts. And I am cold. And I am coughing. I am going to go lay down and curl into a ball and be sick. 29 years old and all I can think is, "where is my mommy?" HA!

Tiny Task Tuesday

I do not have a lot to post this week, I do not think. I was kind of self-absorbed this past week it feels like. And the things that I DID do, were not done for strangers, but rather those close to me.

I took Lorelli's father a cell phone I had sitting around the house because his DIED.

I drove all over town on Friday night to replace his cell phone for him because he didn't get off work till after the store closed.

I gave a girlfriend a dress that I bought but decided I didn't like. It was her style, though.

I drove all over town on Sunday looking for a certain set of tires for Rob since his back tire has a slow leak.

March Random Photo

I totally forgot the random March photo until just now - this will be the 3rd picture in the 3rd folder on my computer. we go. Cross your fingers and hope for the best!

This picture is from my Christmas in Texas (the 1st in 6 years I have spent with my family AT Christmastime). The little girl is my Lorelli, of course. The two boys on the side are my sister's children, Christopher (my fathead) and Hunter. They are 7 and 4. My grandpa is in the middle. And the other boy, next to Lorelli, is my cousin's son, Tony. The last time I saw him he was 18 months old. And now he is 12 years old, I believe. LOOOOOONG TIME!!!!

NOT ME MONDAY!!! (Finally)

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I have been reading MckMama's Not Me Mondays for months now. I always mean to post mine, but I usually forget until Tuesday or Wednesday. This time I remembered. I was so eager to post that I almost chose to post last night for today. It was after midnight, after all, so technically it was Monday. Listed below are the things that I most certainly DID NOT do last week.

I most certainly was not super lazy Tuesday morning and I absolutely did not let Lorelli go to the babysitters in her pajammies with unbrushed hair AND teeth. Every good mother always insures that her child is clean and fresh when walking out for the day.

I did not put the idea into my child's head that she needed to go to her daddy's house on Wednesday because I seriously needed a break. No loving mother ever needs a break from their children. We always want them near us, by our side, asking us a million questions, talking our ears off.

I would never ask my child to go watch a dvd on a lazy Saturday morning so that I could have some quality time with my boyfriend. That is just wrong. All quality time should be snuck in the middle of the night when the child(ren) are sleeping.

I did not throw a mild temper tantrum when my boyfriend decided to play video games instead of coming into the kitchen to talk to me while I made dinner. Especially since I most certainly would never ask him to PLEASE NOT play video games on our day together as they annoy me beyond belief.

That's all I have for last week. My NOT MEs have started already this week, though. Stay tuned!!!

Goings on

Hey there - I am here again. I guess I can't stay away. :-)

Tuesday I got a text from Nini because she was keeping Lorelli for me. She said, "Your daughter just asked me is if Coke goes in the mouth or in the nose." That is a tricky question. But I don't think that I need to talk to my daughter about street drugs JUST YET. I know you are supposed to talk to your child/ren about drugs...but three years old is a bit early, I do believe. So, I told Nini to tell her that Coke goes in your mouth, but sometimes it DOES come OUT your nose. :-) I was very satisfied with that response.

I have developed an obsession with my own eyes. For some reason, somehow, they have turned this brilliant emerald green. I don't know what happened. I don't know when it happened. I just know that it has happened. And I think that they are gorgeous. So, I have been taking pictures of them and storing them in my phone. I know, it's strange. Whatever. But here, check it out :

Three years ago I got involved with someone and that turned into one of the best and most meaningful friendships I have made in my grown up years. I am very thankful for this person and wanted to share that with all of you. She is such an awesome person and I thank the heavens that she is in my life.

I am so excited...I will be getting insurance benefits from my job in just a few short weeks. This is exciting news for me because I have started getting migraines again. I dealt with one for four days last week. I only have two doses of sample migraine medicine that the neurologist gave me some time back and I am scared to use them. I just don't want to get a reallllly bad one and not have anything to counteract it. I did end up taking some medicine for it the other day and SURPPRISE (not really) the medicine worked. Amazing! The only downside is that I will now have an HMO as opposed to a PPO and I do not know how that is going to affect everything that I need to get taken care of. Lets just cross our fingers and hope for the best. The upside is that as of January 09, my company now pays for the employee's insurance. That means I do not have to pay weekly or monthly out of my check for my insurance. How awesome is that? That is an extra 40 something dollars that I don't have to shell out.

So...this blog I follow The Decorated Cookie is awesome. She is up there with Bakerella with her cool stuff. ANYWAY....she has another blog and they are having a HUUUUUUUUUUGE giveaway. Over 400 different prizes are being given away. You have to go check it out. Just click on the banner.

That's all I have for now. Talk to you guys later!!!!

Its here again. Tuesday. Tiny Task Tuesday. I keep meaning to get in on NOT ME Monday, but I always forget.

I am going to switch it up this week...I don't remember doing anything noteworthy, but I had people do things for me that I want to share.

My coworker bought me lunch on a rather yucky day at work. I had lunch, but I was grumpy and she thought I needed to get out of the office so we went to lunch and she paid.

My good friend gave me a head massage because I have been fighting with my migraines again.

Rob paid for mine and Lorelli's dinner on Friday when I invited myself out with him and his friends to Hooters.

Rob is getting my laptop fixed for me. Replacing the motherboard in it. Or he is buying a new one.

Two friends came over LAST Monday night and we all made dinner together. Including Lorelli.

The lady at the dance store gave me $2 off the little skirt I was buying Lorelli to go with her dance clothes, just because.

A lady in a minivan let me cross in front of her on a busy divided highway when I was coming out of the babysitter's driveway.

A.D. kept Lorelli for me Monday night when I was sick.

The babysitters kept Lorelli for me Tuesday night when I was sick.

I gotta say that people were really sweet to me this week! They definitely made my world a little brighter.
